Duration – Two weeks
Areas of Practise – Corporate
Stipend – Yes
Experience – Though I interned at AZB for a period of two weeks, I feel that, considering the amount of work at AZB, it was a unique experience.
The work ranged from legal research to transactional work. I was required to research upon issues pertaining to Company Law, Banking, Information Technology, SEBI, M & A, Stamp Laws.
As regards transactional work, I undertook three Due Diligence’s in two weeks, two of them simultaneously. What was different about the Due Diligence work at AZB was I single handedly undertook the same at the premises of the target company. The Due Diligence work comprised of the analysis, verification and summarizing various agreements for identification of necessary consents and to uncover legal difficulties. I was also assigned to review, verify and cross-reference the Condition Precedents in Share Subscription Agreement. Assisting the Capital Markets team in the preparation of DRHP and reviewing the same for an IPO was what I liked to the core.
Normally, its a 16-hour day at AZB and sometimes you need to slog to the maximum depending upon the exigency. They also work on first and third Saturdays of the month. One must have a fair idea of the transactional space, apart from the basics, since AZB is a hardcore corporate firm. My earlier corporate internships proved helpful for the same. The work culture at AZB is amazing and enriching. Attorneys at the firm are quite co-operative, but yes, they want the work to be done meticulously, which is the case in all the tier one firms. Internship at AZB calls for great amount of dedication and devotion.
Accomodation – I stayed at MLA Guest House in Colaba.
Places to hang out near by – Well, INOX is the place I know to hang out nearby. But considering the demanding nature at AZB, I hardly found any time to hang out. But you can make the most of your time at the AZB cafeteria which provides an awesome view from the 23rd Floor.
